Purpose of the Guild

To enhance, enrich and further work in watercolor, and to promote a better understanding of creative art

Monthly Demonstrations

Our monthly meetings feature demonstrations by many local and national artists some of whom are members of the guild. At one meeting each year slides are shown of all the paintings included in the annual National Transparent Watercolor Society. Many of our members belong to this prestigious group.

Monthly Newsletter

A newsletter with member accomplishments and current news of the guild as well as a member "Artist of the Month" page is sent monthly

Guild Workshops

The guild sponsors workshops with professional artists from all over the country. A partial list includes Catherine Wilson-Smith, John Salminen, Nancy Fortunato, Rotinda Das, David Becker, Tom Lynch, Nancy Newcomb, Brigit Auston, Bill Doughty, Susan Farlan, Jean Dobie, Tom Trausch, John Dioszegi, Tom Francesconi, Carol Duval, and many more.

Exhibit Your Artwork

Membership enables artists to exhibit artwork yearly in a show at the prestigious Feet First Exhibit at the Dr William M. Scholl Museum in Rosalind Franklin University, North Chicago

We also have exhibited at the Jack Benny Center in Waukegan, The Greenbelt Cultural Center, Ela Public Library, and the Wauconda Public Library

Every month a member of the Guild has the opportunity to show their works in the Quiet reading room of the Warren/Newport Library in Gurnee. There is space for 9 - 10 paintings to be displayed on easels and the space can be shared by two artists

Watercolor Resources

We offer an excellent collection of videos on watercolor techniques which are available to check out every month, plus sales and exchange of used books and art supplies.

Meeting Information

We welcome new members and urge anyone interested in watercolor, whether as a painter or simply art lover, to attend our meetings. The group has grown and lasting friendships made through members' exchange of ideas and knowledge of the wonderful world of watercolor.

Meetings are held September thru May on the second Thursday of the month

$25 per individual/$30 per family

Guests are always welcome for only $5/per meeting

Meeting time: from 9:30 am to noon

Meeting location: State Bank of the Lakes in Grayslake,IL located at 50 Commerce Drive
